Tips for healthy eating
There’s no getting around it. In order to be fit you need to eat healthy. This doesn’t mean you’ll never be able to eat the foods you love; it does mean that you need to compromise when it comes to selecting the food you eat. Healthy eating can be fun. Here are a few suggestions you can use to make eating healthy fun.
Have healthy foods available in your kitchen. Set you kitchen up right. If you have junk food in the pantry then you’re going to eat junk food. Purchase healthy foods at the supermarket and stop buying the junk food. Your children will also benefit from having healthy foods to snack on instead of potato chips and cupcakes.
Try new foods. “Diet” foods don’t have to be boring. Just think of all the fruits you can have for your mid-afternoon snack. Why not try kiwi, grapes, bananas or pears? Try to add variety to your meals as well. Give a new vegetable a try tonight. Who knows – you might really enjoy it!
Divide your healthy food into snack size portions. You can buy the small zipper bags at the supermarket which are the perfect size to fill with carrot sticks, celery sticks or grapes. Make it easy for you to pick up a healthy snack and you’ll be less likely to go for the pre-packaged junk food.
Ask a friend for help. Find a friend that wants to start a healthy eating system. Be accountable to her and “confess” when you fall off the diet wagon.
Keep a positive attitude. If you think eating healthy is going to be a chore then it will be a chore. Think about the benefits you will get from this change in your eating style and you’ll keep your attitude positive.
