Home organization tips for busy Moms

If you’re a working Mom or a stay at home Mom, home organization has to be one of the biggest challenges you face on a daily basis.  It doesn’t matter how many children you have – children create clutter.  Here are a few tips you can use that will help you to get on the road to an organized house.

  • Keep a magnetic write on board on your refrigerator.  As you run out of food items or cleaning supplies write down what you need to get at the supermarket on your next trip.
  • Get some storage boxes and organize your closet.  Consider buying those space saving hangars that will give you more room in your limited space.
  • Get rid of all the old newspapers and magazines.  Keep only the most current issue or newspaper.  Take them to the recycling bin at the end of every day.
  • When you get mail go through it right away.  If it’s junk throw it away.  If it’s an unwanted credit card offer shred it right away.  If it’s important have a specific place to put it so it doesn’t get lost.
  • Take a Saturday morning and organize your kitchen cabinets.  Line them with shelf paper for quick and easy clean up of spills.
  • Splurge and buy a good jewelry box to store all your jewelry.  Don’t leave earrings all over your bedroom.
  • Encourage your children to keep their rooms neat and clean.  Reward them for keeping their rooms tidy.  You can purchase age appropriate storage boxes and bins so even young children can put away their toys.
  • Keep all your cleaning supplies in one location.  You can keep them out of the reach of young children while saving time when you need to look for the toilet bowl cleaner.
  • Purchase a storage rack for all your CDs and DVDs.

I don’t know about you, but I always feel better when the house is clean and organized.  Start this new year off right by resolving to get organized.
