Online networking for WAHMs
If you are interested in becoming a work at home mom (WAHM) you’ve probably been searching the internet for information and opportunities. There are lots of websites, message boards and forums dedicated to WAHMs and will give you the opportunity to communicate with WAHMs from all over the world.
The WAHMs you meet online can be an invaluable resource for your business. They can provide you with all kinds of advice and information, from how to start a business to how to handle a specific business problem. There are even sections on many boards where you can post information of a non-business nature (a great place to complain about your bad day as these other moms have been there).
Networking online is a great way to get and give information. It’s easy. Find a forum or message board that you like and register for an account. Post an introductory message to let the moms know who you are and what you are trying to do.
Read the posts on the board and you’ll start to figure out the type of business you want to start. There are directories on these sites where WAHMs can list their web sites. Visit the ones of the type of business you want to start. Send these women a message and ask for their advice. If they are a member of the forum they want to share advice and be helpful.
Be active on the message board and soon you’ll find that people come to you to ask for your advice on your area of expertise. Always answer these questions – remember what it was like when you first started your business! You can help these new members they way you were helped.
