Healthy snack recipe: Fresh Fruit Freezes
Summer is fast approaching. When it’s so hot outside many children just don’t feel like eating. So what can we do as moms to get them to eat a little more (and eat the right things)? How about offering a refreshing, healthy snack for them to eat – fruit freezes.
It’s just like the name says – fruit that is frozen. You can use any fresh fruit you like for this recipe (although for younger children you might want to avoid choking hazards like grapes).
Making the fruit freezes is easy. Wash and dry the fruit. If necessary, peel the fruit. Cut into small slices and put in a single layer on a cookie sheet. Freeze for at least two hours. If you’re not going to eat the fruit right away, you can store it in the freezer in Ziploc bags until you’re ready to eat.
What fruit works well for this recipe? Any fruit really – grapes, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or pineapple for example will make a great healthy snack for your children.
