Recipe: Easy Taco Dip

I love dips.  I think they are a great dish to bring to a family party or covered dish supper.  They’re also great to serve at home to make a regular day seem special.  Here’s a great recipe for an easy taco dip.

Ingredients:
1 15 ounce can refried beans
1 pound ground beef
1 package taco seasoning
½ cup chopped onion
2 cups shredded cheese (whatever kind you like – I like to use cheddar or Monterey jack)
2 cups lettuce, shredded
1 cup chopped tomato
Sour cream

Directions:
Brown ground beef.  Drain and return to pan with taco seasoning mix.  Add water as directed on the seasoning packet and simmer for about 5 minutes.  Remove from heat and cool slightly.

Spread the refried beans in a 9 X 13 baking dish.  Cover the beans with the ground beef and layer the remaining ingredients in the order listed above.  Put dollps of sour cream on the top of the pan (to taste).  Garnish with black olives, if desired.

You can serve this dip with Wheat Thins, tortilla chips, or any kind of crackers you like.
