Recipe: Hot Cheese and Bacon Pie
A friend of mine gave me this recipe – he’s made it for years and has brought it to many parties. It makes a great appetizer for a sit down dinner, or a nice dish for a cocktail party.
Ingredients:
2 frozen pie crusts (8 inch size)
1 pound bacon, diced
2 cups shredded cheese (your favorite kind as any type will work)
1 cup onion, chopped fine
5 eggs, whipped
1 quart milk
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon white pepper
Dash nutmeg
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Sauté bacon and onion. Cool. Combine cheese with eggs, milk, Worcestershire, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. In a large mixing bowl combine this with the cooled bacon and onions. Divide equally and pour into the pie crusts. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes. Remove from oven and let the pies sit for at least 30 minutes before serving.
