Suggestions for keeping your child’s room organized
For most moms, having your children keep their rooms clean and organized is one of the biggest battles you’ll fight. But think about this – maybe your kids’ rooms are not set up for them to easily keep them clean and organized. When considering storage for your child’s room be sure it is something they can use. There are so many different options you can select – from open storage bins to rolling plastic drawers or folding cardboard boxes – so you can select the option that works best with your children. Just be sure to bring your child with you when selecting the storage options so you know they can work with it easily.
Dressers are an integral part of any bedroom, but younger children might have difficulty opening heavy dresser drawers. If this is the case how can you ask your child to put away her clothes? Consider using plastic drawers for their clothes until they are old enough to effectively work with a dresser. You can put stickers on the drawers so they know what goes in what drawer to help them to learn to put away their own clothes.
Clear plastic bins are great for toys and might work better than a toy box for your children. The lids on these bins are usually easy for a child to work and the clear box will allow your child to see where her favorite toy is stored. Laundry baskets can work as a storage bin for stuffed animals or dolls.
Many children are blessed with an overabundance of toys. Consider sorting the toys into groups and rotating them into your child’s bedroom for a month or two at a time. This will help to limit the amount of toys and clutter in your child’s room as well as helping to eliminate the boredom of playing with the same toys all the time. It’s also a great way to sort through the toys your child might have outgrown so you can pass them on to family or friends or even have a garage sale to make some money to buy more age appropriate toys.
