Website where you can find the most recent toy recall information
I was doing some reading on the Internet today about where you can go to find out when products have been recalled. I guess I just want to make sure that the toys and gifts I buy for my children and my nieces and nephews for Christmas will be safe. I found my way to the web site for the US Consumer Products Safety Commission. On their main page they have an updated list for the latest product recalls. This list is for all products, not just toys but there is a link where you can search for toy recalls.
Here’s what scared me the most….some of the products that were listed on this web site as having been recalled I did not even know about! One of the products was a room decorating kit for older girls (and I think I might have just been looking at it as a birthday gift for my soon to be 9 year old niece) that was recalled because of lead paint. I never heard about it on the news. I might have bought it for her and then never heard about the recall on the news so she could have gone on using it while it posed a danger to her.
On the CPSC web site you can even sign up for email alerts to let you know when a product has been recalled. There are several different categories you can sign up for, including infant and child product recalls. I’m thinking that the additional email to go through on a daily basis might be worth it when it comes to the safety of my family.
